  • The Dynamics D365 ERP Consultant (Functional) is responsible for leading the team in applying specialized knowledge in a solution development discipline.


As a Senior Functional ERP Consultant, you will collect and analyse requirements and solve problems using ERP solutions. You are a liaison between Avanade clients and ERP consultants, particularly during the initial phase of projects.

You will specialise and have deep business and product knowledge in the Finance related modules and processes of the Microsoft Dynamics D365 (formerly AX) business application namely: General ledger, Cash and banking, Budgeting, Finance reporting, Tax, Accounts payable, Credit and collections, Accounts receivable, Common, Organisation administration Fixed assets, and ideally Expense management, Cost management, Electronic reporting,

Ability to support customer engagement sales cycles, by understanding customer's business requirements and promoting the value proposition of MS Dynamics AX solutions to meet the requirements and deliver results to the customer.



  • Degree in Science, Business or Information Technology, or equivalent

  • Proven ERP experience, either in pre-sales or post-sales consulting role

  • Relevant experience in implementing and consulting in Microsoft Dynamics AX/D365 ERP

  • Knowledge in Financial and supporting modules

  • Current or recent Microsoft Certification in Finance modules

  • Client facing experience and excellent presentation skills

  • Understanding of sales cycle, customer motives and buying criteria

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and process and solution oriented abilities

Knowledge and skills:

  • Possess sound end-to-end SDL process knowledge and experience and have the ability to learn Avanade delivery methodology and tools.

  • Possess sound consulting skills and display professional behaviour in client engagement.

  • Possess an understanding of project delivery constraints, risks, and the cost, quality, schedule, risk trade-offs.

  • Manage the documentation of business and system processes making use of business process libraries to select tools and accelerators. Manage work of Business Analysts.

  • Create or evaluate the customer's business process decomposition.

  • Lead client workshops, with client management, to discover and analyse solutions for business requirements.

  • Transform the business process decomposition and requirements into a logical and technical model, and map the processes to application requirements.

  • Define or evaluate the functional and non-functional requirements and link them to the business processes

  • Manage the requirements list as a product backlog and/or a traceability matrix

  • Document the settings and prepare customer specific system documentation

  • Write functional design specifications for configuration settings such as license keys, number sequences, personal productivity, plug in and email application setup, module parameters, security, and workflow

  • Prototype and configure the respective business processes in AX/D365FO making sure the system reacts according to the constraints defined by the customer

  • Assist the technical staff by testing the behaviour of the system

  • Lead client workshops, with client management, to analyse and design solutions for any application and/or process gaps detected during prototyping.

  • Write functional design specifications for development items such as reporting, and interfaces with technical team to insure functional requirements are understood.

  • Provide content and Quality Assurance review of the functional requirement and testing sections of technical design specifications.

  • Support the key-users in user acceptance testing of the system.

  • Train key-users and/or end-users.

  • Transition the solution to the support organization.
